The Benson Hotel in downtown Portland created the perfect backdrop to Seattle residents Melinda & Jake. On this windy, overcast day, guests enjoyed the comforts of the historic and possibly haunted hotel. Melinda got glam with the help of Blossom & Beauty with her closest girlfriends hanging with her in the suite. Jake, the groom, had a great attitude despite him getting stuck in an elevator for a half hour in the morning! He recovered quickly, and him and his groomsmen got dapper quick in blue suits. Melinda’s son, Parker, got ready with Jake and they even wore matching jackets! Their First Look happened in front of the large windows I. The lobby of the Benson with gatsby-era chandeliers and gold furnishings as the backdrop.
After, the bridal party headed onto the cold streets of downtown Portland for portraits with Alix of Alixann Loosle Photography, an incredible photographer who recently moved to Portland from Utah. A building with gold doors and columns served as the spot for formal and fun photos.
The ceremony was performed by the couples good friend, Kaden, in the Benson’s ballroom. Parker walked his mom down the aisle as every single person wiped their tears away. Melinda and Jake shared heartfelt yet hilarious vows that personified their love perfectly. Guests socialized during cocktail hour in the downstairs part of the hotel while Stumptown DJ’s spinner classic tracks. The Benson staff and Madeline Moore Events turned the ballroom around, flipping the room from ceremony to reception. Round tables and rental furniture from Archive Rentals and The Party Place were placed around the room as Madeline perfected each place setting and floral arrangement.
A plated dinner was served for guests as toasts were by spoken by Jake’s best man, groomesmen and father and Melinda’s sister and coworkers said a few kind words about this special couple. A cake by Dream Cakes and desserts from The Hungry Hero were served as the dancing part of the night began. The bar was stocked and served by Ladd Taphouse and Olympic Provisions. These Seattle people know how to party and the dancing continued until late that night. I don’t think there was a single guest who didn’t get down at this wedding!
