At our meeting with the couple, all we did was laugh and joke, so we were very excited for this fun, full wedding day! I wore a metallic pink jacket to the meeting, too, and Liz absolutely loved it so I brought it on the day for her to wear in a few shots! Krishna dropped me off at their uber swanky apartment for bride prep, and he headed to Matt and the guys at the Hotel Kimpton. Liz and her girls were so fun and they even jumped on the bed and pelted the bride with pillows. Love Lit Photography was photographing that day and we were stoked to work with Kaitlin and Amy again! Kirstie Wight did everyone’s hair and makeup and created the bride’s bold look with red lips. The bride got on her custom Cocoon Silk dress, we did some portraits with the bridesmaids and their wild bouquets from Geranium Lake, and headed to the venue.
Guests started arriving at Castaway in NW Portland, and packed the venue, patiently awaited the ceremony. Liz’s uncle, who is a retired pastor, officiated the ceremony, telling funny stories about their adventures in Korea and offering advice. Matt and Liz wrote their own vows to each other, never forgetting to mention their furbaby, Penny, who has more Instagram followers than Glitch, by the way. After the ceremony, Liz surprised Matt by hiring Wags and Garland to bring Penny to the reception! The Wedding Llamas also made an appearance during Cocktail Hour, which was obviously a hit, then when the DJ introduced the bride and groom, the llamas, Napoleon and Rojo, came out instead. This day also marked Rojo’s retirement from the event industry; he’s the brown one with the stumpy legs and funny teeth!
During the reception, Pip’s Mobile Doughnuts and Chai truck was out back serving guests, as well as Salt + Straw’s Ice Cream cart. Madeline of Madeline Moore Events, did an amazing job juggling the many vendors, as well as creating a stunning reception space, with Geranium Lake florals and multicolored goblets. Dance Hall Days performed, with twin lead singers and a bang-on rhythm section. Green Light Creative did an amazing job with the uplighting all around the building as well as multicolored stage and dance floor lights. The main way I tell couple’s to kick the scale of their wedding up, is to hire a lighting company. It makes such a difference in the atmosphere and the film! Chef’s Table Catering catered the cocktail hour, as well as the beautiful plated meal. The bride and groom, and their guests, danced to the live music until they sent the couple off with hundreds of sparklers outside of Castaway!
